About Us

Dixie Ice Company, which was established in 1999 as a response to a decline in service and inflated prices in Atlanta's packaged ice market. The ownership has had a 20+ year history in the gas station/c-store business, a large market segment for packaged ice, and noticed that year after year delivery service was getting progressively worse and pricing no longer was competitive between the few ice manufacturers servicing the metro-Atlanta area. Clearly supply was not keeping up with the growing demand of a booming Atlanta and there was room for a newer, younger, and more energetic company to enter the marketplace.

On May 18th, 2000 the first 7 pound bag of ice came down the conveyor belt, and Dixie Ice Company was born. In the early stages, production capacity was about 5,000 bags per day and the fleet consisted of 2 refrigerated box trucks. The customer base consisted generally of gas stations around the metro area.

Due to an overwhelmingly positive response from the market, Dixie Ice Company has grown considerably since 2000. Today production capacity is currently in excess of 35,000 bags per day (almost a quarter million pounds), the distribution network consists of 15+ trucks and an independent distributor, product offerings include 7 and 50 pound bags, and the customer base has grown to include restaurants, nightclubs, manufacturing facilities, bakeries, grocery stores, concrete companies, construction companies, event planners, and many more.
